The Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy (LFSOP) launched its Certificate in Planned Giving Management in fall 2024, expanding its portfolio of professional education offerings. This comprehensive program creates a more accessible entry point for professionals interested in planned giving while also providing nonprofit and fundraising leaders with a deeper understanding of this important philanthropic discipline.

Planned Giving Initiative (PGI) is proud to have supported the development of the certificate through a grant for instructional design. In addition, PGI has invested in the planned giving profession by providing funding to help make the certificate more attainable for practitioners across the sector.

Through PGI grants, the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) are offering partial tuition waivers to selected members. These waivers cover 50 percent of the tuition required to complete the certificate program.

The Lilly School’s Certificate in Planned Giving Management consists of three courses. To encourage continued participation and successful completion, PGI’s tuition support is structured in three graduated installments that correspond with progress through the program.

This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment among leading philanthropic organizations to strengthen the planned giving profession through education, professional development, and broader access to specialized training. Tuition waivers may be applied to either in-person or online courses, providing flexibility for professionals across the country.

By partnering with key organizations across the philanthropic sector, PGI is helping expand access to planned giving education, strengthen professional expertise, and grow the capacity of fundraisers to advance charitable giving for generations to come.
